Affiliate marketing: Mistakes to Avoid

We've all heard the claims and the hype- an online business with no money down and instant wealth available for no time invested. That's the exaggerated version of affiliate marketing. What it actually amounts to is joining a sales team and marketing a product online. With the potential of making huge amounts of money. But there is also the potential for failure. By watching out for these essential points, you increase your chances of success.

Don't go it alone.

Newbies seem to think becoming a guru is a simple matter of reading a single book or listening to a single lecture. Education is fine and necessary but education alone won't fill the bill. Having a team behind you and good mentors (people who's success is tied to yours) makes the essential difference. Trying to re-invent the wheel is an expensive and time-consuming route to frustration and failure. This is why exists- to take advantage of the team marketing concept and empower individuals.

Don't quit early.

It's true that online marketing, the and network marketing can make you a lot of money. But too many only see this endgame and overlook the tenacity it takes to reach it. Persistence pays. A willingness to stay with a program through the initial startup is a necessary ingredient for success. Again, the Global Mentors Team comes into play here. Contact with people who have gone through their own startup struggles is essential motivation that keeps a new marketer on track, on plan and sticking with it.

Do the research.

Let's face it, there are less than honorable people out there. Scammers who entice the inexperienced into contracts and plans that don't go anywhere. You need a program and product you believe in. By doing the research and asking questions, you can find an affiliate team with a good product that sells. And that's the bottom line. Sales. That's why the Global Mentors Team has succeeded so well. Experienced marketers finding solid referrers to affiliate with. Products and services that sell well and the techniques to sell them.

Keep a positive outlook.

It's plain that a negative outlook is going to lead to negative results. By being enthusiastic and optimistic, you become someone who is a pleasure to deal with. We all get down once in a while. Plans don't pan out or things take longer than we expected. That's just a part of being human. But, by keeping a positive outlook, you get a sort of bonus energy and what's even better, other people sense this excitement in you. We've all seen the power of belief- the football team that surges back after a halftime motivational talk from the coach. Well, that works in team marketing too. Believe in the system and the product and your optimism will be rewarded.

Set realistic goals.

Part of what you learn through Global Team Mentors is what to expect and when to expect it. By setting realistic goals (goals you can reach and exceed), you prepare yourself for success. Success feeds on itself. The really great success stories are from people who set goals, achieved them, and then set higher and higher goals. By finding benchmarks to reach and surpass, you stretch your abilities beyond what you thought you could accomplish. This is the surest path to excellence in any field, and works just as well in affiliate marketing.
